Lion Village Cost Breakdown
Lion Village Traditional rooms cost $2,200 each semester. This cost covers a bedroom you will share with a roommate. POD style bathrooms are located on each floor wing offer private shower-toilet-sink spaces.
Lion Village Private rooms cost $2,400 each semester. These units include the same amenities as the Lion Village traditional room except one less bed and mattress.
Lion Village Suites cost $2,750 each semester. This cost covers your own private room and shared bathroom, kitchen and living room facility with three other roommates. Each Lion Village suite has two bathrooms.
You will also choose from one of four meal plans to accompany your payments, depending on what best suits your needs.
Dining Dollars and Lion Bucks
Dining Dollars
As a resident student, you’ll choose a meal plan as part of your housing option that includes Dining Dollars.
Your Dining Dollars can be spent on meals, snacks, and drinks in Mayes Dining Hall and the Lion’s Den in Billingsly Student Center.
Your Dining Dollars work as an extra amount of credit to spend outside of your pre-arranged meal plan.
Lion Bucks
You can add money to your Lion Card at any time in Card Services or through LioNet to convert your money to Lion Bucks. You can use Lion Bucks to purchase goods from vending machines, the bookstore, and other non-meal locations on campus.
You will get a 10% discount when using Lion Bucks at any of our food service locations. Unused Lion Bucks will carry over each semester, and whatever you don’t use by your graduation date will be refunded to you!

Our university is located in Joplin, the fourth-largest metropolitan area in Missouri. Joplin is a growing city home to more than 50,000 people, located on the historic Route 66.
Our city is perfect for college life. From any restaurant-chain you can think of to quaint local coffee shops, your options for dining and caffeine-fueled study-sessions are endless.
Joplin is home to the beautiful Wild Cat Glades, an ideal hiking trail and outdoor adventure for all nature-lovers. For those who crave excitement and city life, Joplin puts on a cultural and artistic event in our Historic Downtown District called Third Thursday. We also offer regularly scheduled Farmers’ Markets, concerts, live performances at Joplin Little Theater, painting classes, world-class exhibits in Spiva Art Gallery and professional sporting events at Joe Becker Stadium.
